How to read a weekly recap
Each recap averages the Riftrate World Tension Index over the week, from Monday to Sunday, on a scale from 0 (calm) to 100 (crisis). It lists the signals that moved most, the countries where armed violence took the largest share of the news, and the three market risk indices for energy, oil shipping routes and the major economies. A weekly average smooths out the noise of single days: a week in the Tension zone (56 to 75) after several Neutral weeks is a clearer change than one tense day. For the day itself, read the daily brief; for the long view, the history since 2018. New recaps also arrive through the RSS feed.
